Preschool education is a major public concern affecting thousands of households and remains a top priority on Yantian District’s public service agenda.
Recently, the Yantian District Education Bureau announced that construction on three high-quality public kindergartens — Lequn Kindergarten, Enshang Kindergarten, and Bacui Kindergarten — has accelerated, with all three expected to open this September. These new schools will add 1,020 affordable preschool seats, further enhancing the district’s preschool education infrastructure.
Yantian is upgrading its early childhood education services. As one of the Top 10 Key Livelihood Projects of 2025, the district is developing community-based kindergartens according to high standards and expanding access to inclusive preschools. Each school is designed to deliver high-quality education from day one, incorporating Yantian's unique natural landscape of mountains and sea. The total investment in the project exceeds 40 million yuan, covering approximately 13,282 square meters of interior renovations and about 6,044 square meters of outdoor facilities.

As of now, construction progress on Lequn, Enshang, and Bacui stands at 96%, 93%, and 99% respectively. All renovations are expected to be completed by the end of June, after which the facilities will undergo final setup and equipment testing.
“My child is starting kindergarten later this year, and I've heard Lequn Kindergarten is nearly finished. It would be great to have a high-quality school so close to home,” said a local resident surnamed Wang.
In recent years, Yantian has made preschool education a top priority, leading the city in ensuring 100% of registered preschool-age children have access to affordable public kindergartens. The district has already surpassed its 14th Five-Year Plan targets for preschool seat availability.
“The completion of these three kindergartens will further bring us closer to fulfilling residents’ hopes for quality education at their doorstep,” said an official from the Yantian Education Bureau. “We will continue advancing quality and accessibility in early childhood education, working toward our goal of a national model district where every child enjoys warm, high-quality, and distinctive preschool education — right in their neighborhood.“
